VISION:

The youth, adults, and families of the Monadnock Voices for Prevention region are engaged in healthy life styles and safe, strong communities.

PURPOSE:

A regional network working together to reduce substance abuse, and build safe, strong communities in the Monadnock Region.

MISSION:

Monadnock Voices for Prevention are people who live and work in the Monadnock Region and through education, evaluation and advocacy work together to build community resources and reduce the impact of substance abuse in our communities.

WHAT DO WE DO FOR OUR COMMUNITIES?

Monadnock Voices for Prevention is a regional network working together to reduce substance abuse.  Monadnock Voices for Prevention was established through the collaborative efforts of the Creating Positive Change (CPC), Community and Schools Together (CAST), Hinsdale Prevention Coalition (HPC), and Monadnock Alcohol and Drug Abuse Coalition (MADAC). Funding through the NH  Department of Health and Human Services Bureau of Drug and Alcohol Services has provided support for the work of Monadnock Voices for Prevention partners since 2007.

The regional network has expanded to involve numerous partners (see list under partners) and includes the four original coalitions, volunteers, schools, law enforcement, business, social service agencies, new coalitions, health care, civic groups, government and programs that for years have been working in their communities to address drug, tobacco and alcohol use, and abuse. These groups partner with each other and the Monadnock Voices for Prevention Leadership Team, staff, and fiscal agent (Cheshire County) in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of a regional wide system to support and enhance strategies to reduce substance abuse and build community resiliency.

The regional network partners serve Alstead, Antrim, Bennington, Chesterfield, Dublin, Fitzwilliam, Francestown, Gilsum, Greenfield, Greenville, Hancock, Harrisville, Hinsdale, Jaffrey, Keene, Marlborough, Marlow, Nelson, New Ipswich, Peterborough, Richmond, Rindge, Roxbury, Sharon, Stoddard, Sullivan, Surry, Swanzey, Temple, Troy, Walpole, Westmoreland, and Winchester.

In order to accomplish inclusive representation, Monadnock Voices for Prevention invites all individuals, communities, town governments, law enforcement, schools, health care, service providers and coalitions in the Monadnock Region with an interest in addressing substance abuse to participate in the regional network and/or local coalitions.  Our goal is to have a mix of people participating in substance abuse prevention efforts that will represent to the extent possible, a broad cross section of disciplines, professions and experience and will include anyone with an interest in making a positive difference in the health of their community. These individuals and/or groups may be part of a larger statewide network as the purpose is to represent a diverse cultural, social, and economic voice in our substance abuse prevention efforts.
